I’m a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the CCPA who offers a steady, compassionate space to slow down and make sense of what you’re moving through—whether that’s stress, anxiety, burnout, relationship strain, or a general feeling of being stuck. In our work together, we’ll look not only at what’s happening on the surface, but also at the underlying beliefs, emotions, and patterns that may be shaping your experience.
My approach is integrative, with an emphasis on mindfulness, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). Many clients appreciate that our work balances practical clarity with deeper self-understanding, so change feels meaningful and sustainable.
In addition to formal training, my work has been shaped by years of contemplative and experiential self-inquiry. This perspective informs a way of working that values not just insight or coping, but deeper understanding of the patterns and inner experiences that shape how we relate to ourselves and others.
I also offer sliding-scale spots when possible—feel free to reach out and inquire.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING
I offer non-judgmental support for anxiety, stress and burnout, life transitions, substance use concerns, difficult past experiences, feeling disconnected from yourself, or simply wanting to understand better the patterns that shape your life. My goal is to work collaboratively with you toward greater steadiness, self-trust, and a clearer relationship with your thoughts, emotions, and experiences.
COUPLES COUNSELLING
I work with couples who want to improve their relationship, but find themselves repeating the same conflict cycles. Together, we’ll focus on strengthening emotional safety and communication, and on understanding what’s happening beneath reactions—so you can feel more connected and more like you’re on the same team.
I’m happy to connect for a free consultation to answer any questions and see if we are a good fit to work together.

Hello, my name is Kelly!
As a registered clinical counsellor (RCC), I offer a safe, confidential space where you can show up as you are, without judgment and without pretense. My work is grounded in authenticity, integrity, and honesty. I believe in walking alongside my clients with compassion and clarity as we navigate the challenges that life can bring.
My approach blends Emotion-Focused Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Inner Child and Reparenting and Somatic Work, helping you not only to understand your emotional patterns but also to connect more deeply with your internal experience. Together, we can explore your past and present with curiosity, care, and intention.
Currently, I work with individuals aged fourteen and older. Some areas of support I offer are:
-Grief and loss
-Relationship concerns
-Separation or divorce
-Life transitions
-Anxiety and depression
-Personal growth and self-discovery
GRIEF & LOSS
Do any of these feel familiar?
Are you struggling to get through the day since losing someone you love?
Does it feel like nobody around you truly understands what you’re going through?
Are you unsure whether what you’re feeling - the numbness, the anger, the guilt - is normal?
Has loss changed you, and you’re not sure how to find yourself again?
Are you grieving something other than a death, such as a relationship, a diagnosis, a career or purpose, a life you imagined?
Do you feel pressure to “move on”?
If something above resonated with you, I want you to know that you are not alone, and I am here to support you.
I work with people navigating some of the hardest experiences life can bring: the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a life-altering diagnosis, miscarriage, estrangement, or the quieter losses that others rarely acknowledge.
Grief, in all its forms, deserves to be witnessed, and not managed, rushed, or minimized.
There is no right way or wrong way to grieve. However, there is discovering what you uniquely need in your journey of grief. Some individuals need space to speak about the person or experience they’ve lost; others arrive carrying emotions they can’t yet name. We go at your pace.
I came to this work through my own experiences of loss, and through witnessing how profoundly common it is for grieving people to feel overlooked.
SEPARATION & DIVORCE SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUALS
Are you thinking about leaving your relationship, and the fear and unknowns are overwhelming you?
Are you in the middle of the process of separation and in need of some support, grounding and adjusting to the evolving new life?
Maybe you are on the other side of divorce and are asking yourself, “now what”?
I am a compassionate counsellor who specializes in supporting individuals navigating separation and divorce. With a warm, grounded approach, I can help you work through the emotional impact of relationship transitions, including grief, uncertainty, and identity shifts.
I offer guidance in co-parenting communication, managing conflict, and creating stability for children during times of change. I also support clients in coping with losses, rebuilding confidence, and moving forward with clarity and resilience.
Whether you’re facing the early stages of separation or adjusting to life after divorce, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your experiences and develop tools for healing, growth, and healthier future relationships.
INNER CHILD AND REPARENTING
Do you find yourself reacting to situations with an intensity that feels out of proportion, and then wonder where that came from?
Are you your own harshest critic, with an inner voice that never seems satisfied, no matter what you achieve?
Do you carry a deep sense of not being enough, or feel that love and belonging must be earned?
Did you grow up having to be the responsible one, the peacekeeper, or the invisible one, and are you still playing that role today?
Do you struggle to trust people, set boundaries, or ask for what you need, even when you know you deserve it?
Does part of you feel like you’re still waiting for someone to finally show up and make things okay?
Reparenting and inner child work is not about blaming your parents or trying to change those childhood experiences that have a lasting influence. This work is about understanding the roots of many of the struggles that we can experience in adult life in relationships, self-worth, emotional regulation, and identity.
My approaches help reconnect with younger parts of yourself that may be carrying pain, shame, fear, or unmet needs. Together, we explore where those parts came from, what they’ve been trying to protect you from, and how you can begin to offer them something they need: safety, compassion, and a voice.
Inner child work is some of the most meaningful work a person can do. It helps create a deep, felt understanding of oneself that translates into all aspects of life in a positive way.
ABOUT ME
I’m a proud mother of two and have lived in Squamish for over six years. I find grounding and restoration in hiking, yoga, and time spent with my family—practices that inform the way I approach my work with care and presence.

Julie Petrynko Registered Clinical Counsellor - Approved Clinical Supervisor
Contact:
info@peakexperiencecounselling.com
My name is Julie Petrynko and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Approved Clinical Supervisor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and the founder of Peak Experience Counselling.
I feel very lucky to be able to enjoy an incredibly fulfilling career. For almost 25 years, I have worked as an educator and counsellor, developing my skills in connecting and guiding others. I am an experienced couples and relationship counsellor and have many years of experience working with individual adults, youth, and counselling professionals.
Our time spent together will be safe, confidential experiences where we work collaboratively, with compassion and curiosity, to meet your needs. My approach is very open and accepting. No matter what you are struggling with or how taboo you feel your concerns, you will find that I am an accepting and non-judgmental listener and support. I strive to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing and exploring.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING
Life doesn’t always fall apart dramatically. Sometimes it shifts quietly until you find yourself wondering how you got here, and what comes next. I work with adults navigating meaningful life transitions, particularly midlife, when identity, relationships, and purpose can begin to feel uncertain or outgrown.
Clients often arrive with a sense of restlessness, grief, or disconnection, whether it’s related to changing family roles, hormonal shifts, relationship transitions, loss, career changes, or a longing for something more meaningful. Whatever form it takes, I take these experiences seriously and offer support in navigating both the transition itself and the emotions that accompany it.
The movement from teen to young adult, young adult to adulthood, transition to parenting and family life, transition into or out of a committed relationship, and transition into retirement are some other common life transitions I have years of experience navigating with my clients.
My approach is grounded in a person-centred foundation, offering a space of warmth, deep listening, and genuine collaboration. I integrate Emotionally Focused Therapy, attachment theory, and a trauma-informed perspective to help you better understand your emotional world, relational patterns, and inner experience. Together, we work toward greater clarity, self-understanding, and lasting change.
COUPLES COUNSELLING
Do you find yourselves stuck in the same arguments, feeling unheard, or growing apart?
I work with couples who feel caught in cycles of conflict, distance, or disconnection despite their efforts to repair things. My work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), which focuses on the deeper emotional needs and patterns underlying conflict.
Rather than staying at the surface, we explore the hurt, fear, and longing beneath recurring arguments. I help you slow these cycles down, understand what’s really happening between you, and learn to communicate in ways that foster safety, responsiveness, and connection. I also integrate practical communication tools and other relationship skills to support meaningful, lasting change.
YOUTH COUNSELLING (12+)
Adolescence and early adulthood can be some of the most emotionally complex and demanding stages of life. I support young people experiencing anxiety, depression, identity questions, social challenges, family difficulties, or a general sense of not fitting in.
I offer a space that is truly theirs: confidential, non-judgmental, and unhurried. My approach is warm, flexible, and led by the young person, whether that involves talking, creative expression, or simply having a place to think out loud.
Grounded in person-centred, attachment-informed, and trauma-aware practice, I focus on building trust and helping young people make sense of their experiences at their own pace.
A note for parents and caregivers
I know it can be hard to watch your child struggle and feel uncertain about how to help. Reaching out for support is a courageous step for both you and your young person. I work collaboratively with parents and caregivers where appropriate and, where the young person consents. I’m happy to answer any questions you have before we begin. Confidentiality is important to the work, and I’ll always be transparent with you and your young person about how that works in practice.
COUNSELLOR SUPERVISION
I offer clinical supervision for counsellors and therapists at all stages of their careers, from those beginning their practice to more experienced clinicians seeking to deepen their work.
My approach integrates the Developmental Model and the Seven-Eyed Model, allowing supervision to be responsive to your stage of development while also exploring the full relational field of your clinical work. This creates space for thoughtful reflection on your clients, your interventions, your inner experience, and the wider context of the work.
I aim to provide a supportive, collaborative environment where you can explore challenges, build confidence, and continue developing your therapeutic voice and identity, with attention to both professional growth and personal well-being.
I offer packages to help make supervision accessible. Please reach out or see the options in our booking page.
>I look forward to connecting with you. I welcome questions and free consultations to see whether we would be a great fit to work together. Please reach out.

Contact:
rhiannawilliamscounselling@gmail.com
My name is Rhianna Williams and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (BCACC #19779) holding a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology and an undergraduate degree in Child and Youth Care.
I am originally from the West Kootenay region of B.C., and grew up in a family that was impacted by much adversities and that instilled in me a strong sense of community and values centered around love and mutual support. My career journey began with a desire to find meaningful, values-based life’s work and to gain the tools and insights needed to make sense of the people, places, and experiences that shaped my early life.
Before becoming a RCC, I worked for over a decade as a Youth and Family Outreach Counsellor and Youth Care Worker in both the public health and nonprofit sectors. Today, my clinical practice focuses on supporting individuals, couples, and parents.
WORK WITH PARENTS
Becoming a parent is one of life’s most pivotal and impactful experiences. Parenting is hard—especially in an age of information overload, social media comparisons, high cost of living and reduced access to extended family or close-knit communities. It’s okay to need support! Our nervous systems were not designed to be superhuman. Many parents feel on the edge of a breakdown, juggling life stressors. I approach parent coaching with a family systems, developmental, and attachment-oriented perspective, drawing on my years of experience with youth and families. I incorporate practical tools from the Positive Discipline Parenting to help unburden parents by reducing power struggles and to support children to become responsible, respectful, and resourceful individuals.
WORK WITH COUPLES
My interest in working with couples comes from both personal and professional experiences. As a Youth Care Worker, I saw firsthand that individuals can undergo extensive therapy, but lasting change is unlikely if the systems around them remain unchanged. Supporting parents and couples became a natural career progression and way for me to promote child and youth well-being. Additionally, after experiencing numerous so-called “failed” relationships in my 20s, I took time for self-reflection, asking, “What is my part in this?” and “What does a healthy relationship look like?” This journey of self-discovery, combined with my master’s studies, inspired me to focus my clinical practice in part on couples and parents.
My work with couples incorporates Emotion-Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method, offering concrete tools and process-oriented approaches that help couples feel more heard, understood, and connected, while reducing conflict and fostering peaceful, nurturing homes where individuals and families can thrive.
WORK WITH INDIVIDUALS
My work with individuals centers on meeting clients where they are at, helping them to thrive and become their most authentic, connected selves while building emotional resilience. Common areas of focus include addressing the impacts of:
-
anxiety,
-
depression,
-
neurodivergence (including ADHD),
-
addiction issues,
-
interpersonal conflict,
-
attachment issues,
-
life transitions,
-
reparenting and processing childhood trauma,
-
grief and loss.
I offer in-person, walk-and-talk, and video sessions. My practice is grounded in a biopsychosocial, attachment-based, and trauma-informed approach. I utilize various modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Solution-Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method, and Structural Family Therapy. I am also trained in Nature-Based Therapy and am a Positive Discipline Parenting coach.
ACCESSIBILITY
I am committed to making mental health care accessible. I partner with various counselling assistance funds and Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), including Whistler and Sea to Sky Community Services, Pearls Place, CVAP, and the Vail Employee Assistance Program and the Squamish Nation.
For more information or to schedule a consultation or initial session, please book through the Jane app or contact me directly through email or phone/text.
Thank you for your interest and for considering my support on your health and wellness journey.

Hello! My name is Olessia, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in BC.
I offer support to individuals and couples struggling with relational and personal challenges that are getting in the way of living the life they want for themselves. Through our work together, it is my hope that you will get to know yourself more deeply, love yourself more fully, and discover ways to be yourself in the world that is true and loving to you and everyone you encounter.
Truthfully, I have yet to meet a person who has a rich life and depth of character who has had it easy. I believe that life’s challenges can be a source of transformation and deepening of life’s experience. Our struggles are openings and opportunities to rediscover our greatness and experience life a little more fully, so that one day we can proudly look back and say, “Wow, what a journey this life has been!”
I also believe that life is richer in connection with ourselves and others. Although relationships can be challenging, complicated, and confusing, they can also be healthy and healing, joyful and rewarding, and a secure base to explore the beauty of life from. I work with people to help bring them into alignment with relational goals they have for themselves.
WORK WITH INDIVIDUALS
Are you crushing it on those rock walls but cruxing out in relationships?
Sending double blacks but wiping out in other areas of life?
Sports analogies and humour aside, maybe life and or your relationship looks pretty good on the outside, but inside…
-
Something doesn’t feel quite right, and maybe you can or cannot put your finger on it, but something somewhere feels a little empty or lacklustre, or maybe just plain exhausting?
-
It feels tough to hold on to yourself while maintaining connection to others?
-
Find yourself looking at your life and wondering, “how in the world did I get here?” but not sure which string to pull on or where to even start?
-
Perhaps wanting to be in a relationship and simultaneously feeling terrified at the idea?
Because every individual and life path is unique, my approach to working together is collaborative and person-centred. With genuine openness, curiosity, and warmth, I hold a safe space for us to explore your experiences and support you in navigating your way from struggle to flow.
I draw on modalities such as AEDP, mindfulness, parts work, and various behavioural tools as needed. At the root of it, I work relationally and with a deep knowing that we’re all inherently whole, but life happens… and yet despite that, we are innately drawn to healing, genuine connection, and vitality.
WORK WITH COUPLES
Do you deeply care for each other and yet feel frustrated and discouraged having the same fight over and over again?
Not feeling seen, heard, understood, considered, or valued by your partner?
Do you feel like you used to have something beautiful and now, after too many painful moments and experiences, questioning what you have?
Or is your relationship actually pretty fantastic and you want to make it even better? There’s a place here for you too!!
In my work with couples, my intention is to help you get to the root of your sticky points, to help foster better communication, understanding, and knowing of each other. We will work on ways you can break out of the cycle you’ve gotten into and navigate conflict in more productive and healing ways, so that you walk away feeling more connected than before.
I bring a calm, warm, and non-judgmental energy to my practice. Whatever your challenges, I welcome you.
MY BACKGROUND
I am a certified yoga instructor and have been teaching since the COVID days (it was an interesting time to start!). I have also sat in multiple silent meditation courses, learning and practicing Vipassana, which is a type of mindfulness meditation, and I bring that presence and awareness to my practice. Prior to teaching yoga, I had a career in corporate (actuarial science, if you know what that is!) and can certainly empathize with challenges that arise in that kind of environment, as well as questioning one’s path and going through life transitions.
My education and training also include:
-
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) — Certified Level 1, AEDP Institute
-
Couple Therapy Certification with Dr. Alexandra Solomon — in progress
-
Internal Family Systems (IFS) Trauma Treatment with Frank Anderson — in progress
-
Repairing Betrayal with Stan Tatkin
-
Sessions Live with Esther Perel in NYC
-
Master of Counselling, City University of Seattle
-
Bachelor of Mathematics, University of Waterloo

Hello, I’m Sophie. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in BC. I work with adults, couples, children (10+) and youth. I offer in-person and video sessions and I am currently accepting new clients.
I have many years of experience in teaching yoga as well as working in public schools. Over time, my career has evolved towards counselling as I have a true interest and dedication to supporting individuals through life’s challenges. As a counsellor, my approach is client-centred and flexible. I draw from several modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Attachment-based models of practice.
Our time together will be a unique space to sort out your inner world, thoughts, feelings, stresses or concerns. We will also likely identify where thoughts, feelings and behaviours may be coming from and to get clear about values and what’s important moving forward. It’s a true honour to provide support on your journey from a safe, confidential, and accepting space where we can collaborate and be curious together.
YOUTH COUNSELLING
I understand the unique needs of young people and am passionate about empowering them to navigate relationships, anxiety and depression, school pressure, identity, and personal growth. Having years of experience working with youth in schools and the counselling setting, I am committed to supporting young people through life’s ups and downs. For children and youth ages 10 and up, I strive to provide a safe, empathetic space to explore feelings, challenges, and aspirations.
Moving through childhood and toward adulthood can be a bumpy ride, and I see the benefit of having a trusted adult to share the struggles and triumphs with and to learn strategies and skills to help make the ride as smooth as possible. I use a variety of evidence-based approaches, including talk therapy, mindfulness, and strengths-based techniques, to help youth build resilience, improve self-esteem, build relationship and emotional skills and develop healthy coping.
INDIVIDUAL ADULT COUNSELLING
I often work with adults wanting to focus on issues such as anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship difficulties, parenting, family of origin work, and life transitions. It is my intention to facilitate growth, resilience, and positive change. I am committed to empowering clients to gain insight, develop coping skills, and achieve their personal goals. Whether you’re facing a specific concern or seeking overall emotional well-being, I am here to support you on your journey toward your healthiest, most fulfilling life.
COUPLES COUNSELLING
Couples counselling can feel especially vulnerable and scary. I do my best to create a space that is not about right and wrong or good and bad, and focus on the dynamic of each couple rather than “fixing” individual behaviours.
I have training and experience in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. EFT is rooted in attachment theory and uses the science of emotions and attachment to facilitate the creation of secure connection. In sessions, we will collaborate to identify negative processing and interaction patterns that create distress and disconnection. With the knowledge and understanding of what is creating disconnect, we will then work together to create new patterns of coming together so you can feel more understood, heard and supported by each other, even when you don’t necessarily agree with each other or have differences of perspective. We will also highlight the strengths in your relationship and also notice areas of growth that when given attention, will help maximize the positive impact of your strengths. In our process together I usually integrate skill based learning with emotionally focused healing and growth.
Please reach out to book a free consultation call. I would be happy to hear from you!

Hi, I’m Kelsey! I’m a registered social worker (MSW/RSW), Registered Clinical Counsellor and EMDR therapist. I work with adults and youth (ages 14+), offering individual counselling and EMDR therapy.
My focus is on helping people navigate anxiety, work through trauma and supporting those who would like to make changes to their drinking or substance use.
I take a curious and compassionate approach, getting to know you and the unique experiences that have shaped your life. Together, we’ll look at how your past connects to the patterns you’d like to change, all in a safe and non-judgmental space. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, confident, and aligned with what matters most to you.
TRAUMA AND EMDR THERAPY
Trauma isn’t always about big events; sometimes it’s the smaller, overwhelming experiences that leave a lasting impact. Many common challenges like anxiety and depression are tied to unresolved past experiences. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a tool I use to help my clients to process these experiences.
As a fully trained EMDR therapist, I’ll guide you through this process at your pace, helping you:
Work through negative beliefs (examples: “I’m not enough”or “I’m powerless”)
Address trauma-related experiences and symptoms
Feel stronger and more resilient
SOMATIC AND PARTS WORK
Bringing in parts work, listening to your body, and understanding different parts of yourself. This can include:
Recognizing and giving space to parts of yourself that may feel stuck, reactive, or unheard.
Learning to regulate your nervous system by tuning into your body’s signals and responses.
Developing compassion and understanding for all parts of yourself, even the ones that feel challenging.
SUBSTANCE USE AND DRINKING CHANGES
Making changes to substance use or drinking can feel daunting, and I’m here to meet you where you’re at. Whether your goal is abstinence, moderation, or harm reduction, we’ll work together to find the right path for you.
Feeling unsure about change? That’s completely normal. I’ll support you in taking things one step at a time, weaving this work into your other therapy goals.
Some ways I can help include:
CBT and DBT: Building tools and skills to handle challenges and manage urges in the moment.
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy): Using acceptance, mindfulness and value-focused work to navigate triggers, cravings and align your choices with what’s most important to you.
EMDR Therapy: Working on the deeper beliefs and experiences connected to substance use, so you can feel more in control.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Through our work, I aim to help you:
-
Break free from negative patterns
-
Feel more confident and less anxious
-
Understand and build on your strengths
-
Improve your relationships and communication
-
Gain tools to navigate life’s challenges
TRAINING AND CREDENTIALS
-
Fully Trained EMDR Therapist (Levels 1 and 2)
-
EMDR 2.0 Training (Certificate)
-
EMDR for Complex PTSD (Certificate)

Hello, my name is Mishka (she/her). I am currently completing my graduate training and practicum at Peak Experience Counselling.
I’ve spent much of my professional life working closely with youth, and supporting young people is at the heart of my work. I also work with adults navigating anxiety, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the weight of family patterns. I’m drawn to counselling as a place where things can slow down and be. A place where you don’t have to have it all figured out, and where there is room to be honest about what is actually going on beneath the surface. My hope is to offer a space that feels real and grounded, where you are not being analyzed or judged, but met as you are.
My work is shaped by person-centred and trauma-informed approaches, with attention to emotion, our connections, the body, and the ways our experiences continue to live with us. A lot of what people carry makes sense when you look at the pieces around it. Together, we can start to understand those patterns, what they have been doing for you, and whether they still fit.
I am especially interested in working with people who feel stuck in ways they do not fully understand, who feel like parts of themselves are hidden or hard to access, or who are carrying more than they let on. With youth, this can show up as anxiety, pressure, withdrawal, or feeling misunderstood. I aim to meet that in a way that feels respectful and relatable. In sessions, you can expect a pace that feels safe, space to explore what matters, and a collaborative approach to figuring out what feels right for you. Outside of counselling, I spend time outdoors, make art and pottery, and am often in the kitchen with my family close by.
Sessions with me are offered at a reduced rate as part of my practicum programming.
I offer this work with gratitude and respect for the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam Nations, on whose unceded territories I play, live and work.

Hi, I’m Nicole, a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) with specialized training in Somatic (body) Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I have over a decade of experience working in hospice palliative care and opened an online private practice in 2021. I am very excited to be able to expand into offering in-person sessions with the team at Peak Experience Counselling.
Therapy can support clients in exploring personal patterns that may no longer serve them. Together, we work to acknowledge symptoms or patterns, as adaptations that have helped us survive, to become more aware of our nervous system and to understand how our bodies inform us. As we begin to see our patterns, with self-compassion and acceptance, we can begin to change, build new supportive resources, discover new skills, and create a personalized tool kit to move forward.
As a relational therapist, I believe that when people have the opportunity to feel seen and heard, they can work through old trauma and find grounding in this connection and in themselves. My counselling style centres around the therapeutic relationship and collaborative goal setting while providing safety, connection, empathy, understanding, professional insight and therapeutic approaches to help individuals soften their edges and move in a preferred direction.
Creating safety requires honesty and openness from both the client and counsellor. Together, we work to better understand the thoughts, feelings, behaviours and past experiences keeping you from wellbeing. Connecting to your inner wisdom, building new skills, and identifying forgotten strengths and values assist in creating positive and sustained change. I work with individuals (18+) ready to step towards healing, meeting them where they are and gently challenging them to grow toward their goals.

Meaningful relationships are everything to me and a big part of why I became a therapist. When we feel safe, heard, and understood, we can work through challenging emotions and feel more connected to ourselves.
I believe that each person’s journey is unique and I take a collaborative approach to meet your individual needs. I draw from a variety of mind-body approaches including Attachment-based therapy, Emotions-focused therapy, IFS parts work, and Narrative therapy. Feedback is an important part of the therapy process and something that I incorporate at the end of sessions to make sure you are getting what you need from our time together.
I offer individual therapy for adults and youth age 14+. I also offer relationship counselling for couples and parents.
WORK WITH INDIVIDUALS
I support individuals by helping them explore limiting thoughts, patterns, and emotions. My goal is to help you understand what your nervous system needs to feel more safe, regulated, and resourced in times of stress or conflict.
Some of the areas I focus on are trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, grief and loss, confidence, life transitions, substance use, intimacy, and boundaries.
WORK WITH COUPLES
I help couples better understand their core needs and emotions so they can resolve communication challenges and feel more regulated and connected. I draw on the gottman method, emotions-focused therapy, and imago dialogue.
WORK WITH PARENTS
As the mom of a toddler, I understand both the joys and challenges that come with being a parent. The first couple of years can be a whirlwind as you navigate identity shifts, new responsibilities, relationship shifts, less time for yourself, and less sleep. I help guide moms and parents through this transition, so they can show up from a more connected and compassionate place for themselves, each other, and their little ones.
MY BACKGROUND
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the nonprofit space for over 7 years. My background is in program management and community advocacy. Throughout my career, I have supported youth and adult populations in a variety of settings including schools, community agencies, public health, and private practice.
I have always been my happiest living near the mountains. I was born in Toronto, Canada, but grew up in Tucson, Arizona. My love of nature and outdoor activities brought me to Squamish. In my free time, I like to wander around the local trails with my partner, daughter, and goldendoodle. I also enjoy sitting on the couch with a good book and cup of coffee.

Sara Place Registered Clinical Counsellor
Contact:
sara@peakexperiencecounselling.com
My name is Sara Place and I am a Registered Clinical counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
I am honoured to have worked for 20 years in the education and mental health field. As a teacher, in my classroom the students were often sharing their stories through their art and language. I went to the school counsellor and confessed that I didn’t always know if I was saying the right thing. She said: “It’s not about what you say, it’s about how you listen”. This is now what I base my practice on: How to really hear what is going on for you; to help you really hear yourself, and the people around you in a deeper more meaningful way; to build personal awareness and a set of practices that support you to be more yourself.
INDIVIDUAL ADULT AND YOUTH COUNSELLING
It is my honour to deeply listen and support your personal journey through whatever life circumstance brings you to counselling. I value your individual experience, and my approach to counselling will be personalized with your identity, expertise, and goals as the driving force of our sessions.
Areas of specialization include: grief, anxiety, depression, addictions, neurodivergence including ASD & ADHD , LGBTQ2S+ affirming support, parenting support, attachment work, somatic work, mood and personality disorders, and emotion work.
COUPLE AND FAMILY COUNSELLING
Relationships take training. Many of us don’t experience adequate supportive instruction, or modelling, that help us to create attuned, meaningful relationships that can grow over time. Through relationship counselling we will create awareness of your relationship dynamic together; your family attachment history; and create specific practices moving forward to support you in a more meaningful, attuned connection. We will work towards moving from long-standing attachment wounds to self and partner assimilation; from old behaviour patterns to emotional attunement; from conflict to healthy communication and collaboration, and from barriers to healthy boundaries.

PARENT AND EDUCATOR SUPPORT
I offer educational support and consulting for parents, students and educators.
